Insta Care is no fun!

Jared has had this bump above his eye off and on over the past few years. In the past it's gotten bigger but then it will go back down. On Wednesday it started to swell up again and since then it's just kept getting bigger and bigger and pushing down on his eye lid. He woke up this morning and his eye was about halfway shut due to the swelling. It opened up a little bit after he'd been awake for a while, but we decided we better get him to Insta Care before it swelled closed all together and got a lot worse.

Here's a before picture of my poor sweetheart on our way out the door to Insta Care. The picture doesn't quite give the full effect of how swollen it is.

Here's a close-up of his poor eye. You can see the bump towards the end of his eyebrow on the outside part of his eye.

So when we got to Insta Care, we had about an hour wait to get in to see the doctor. She thought it was some sort of cyst or abscess, so she wanted to open it up and try to get everything out of there. She brought out a big needle and numbed him up so it wouldn't hurt as bad. Then she opened it up and started getting all the gunk out that was making it swollen and infected. Based on how Jared reacted, I'm sure it still hurt a lot! Poor guy! She was able to get most of the stuff out, but he's got some antibiotics to take, as well as Lortab and a topical numbing ointment for when we change the dressing. We get to clean it for about 7-10 days and then give it about 3 weeks to see if it's fully gone. If not, she suggested that surgery would have to be done to remove it completely. Here's hoping for a speedy and full recovery so no surgery is necessary. Here's my poor baby after we got home. I feel so bad for him, but it was probably good to get that yucky stuff out of there.

And here's a close-up of the eye with the bandage on. We have to change it tomorrow night and then she said we should just be able to put a band-aid on it from there on out. Wish us luck!

20 weeks!

We had our 20 week ultrasound on Friday December 2nd up at McKay-Dee Hospital. Everything checked out good with our little baby. We have a healthy 15 ounce bundle of joy! We had the ultrasound tech put whether it's a boy or a girl in an envelope for us and we'll open that on Christmas to find out what we're having. We're super excited! Halloween Fun

Happy Halloween!! We wanted to have some Halloween fun last night, so we carved pumpkins. We picked some up at Wal-Mart and as you can see, the one on the left looks kind of retarded. That's the one I picked and I didn't realize till we brought it home that it didn't sit level. Oh well, it still turned out ok. Here are some pictures from our festivities :)

We had a great time carving our pumpkins! We put some candles in them and set them outside. Then Jared made yummy pumpkin seeds from what we dug out of our pumpkins. They were delicious! Tomorrow for Halloween we're going up to Jared's Dad's house for dinner and to see the rest of the family...should be fun. We can't wait till we have big enough kids to share this fun holiday with!

Oh Baby!

The newest addition to our family will be arriving on April 17th, 2012!!

We were at the doctor's today and here's a few pictures of our little peanut. We also got to see the heartbeat fluttering on the monitor....amazing! We're about 9 weeks. We are so excited to be parents and are blessed to know that Heavenly Father trusts us with one of His sweet spirits. Thanks for all your love and support!

New addition to our family....

Jared's good friend gave us a late wedding gift. He called Jared a few weeks ago to let him know he was sending a gift card and a 60" TV to us. Jared told me and I was pretty excited, but also curious if it was actually true.

Well......last Friday we got the gift card in the mail with a letter stating the TV would be delivered to our apartment. Jared got a call on Monday to confirm the delivery time frame.

So as of Thursday at 11:30 am, here's the newest addition. Needless to say, it's HUGE!! It's a 60" and Jared measured and it's like 4 1/2 feet by about 3 feet. We're grateful for Jared's friend and his generosity.

Tabitha June

My sweet little niece Tabitha June, born on April 12th. She is so precious! I wish she didn't live all the way down in Mississippi. That's too far away. We love you Tabitha!

Denae is in town!

My friend Denae came into SLC for a work conference, so I was able to hang out and spend some time with her. She came in on a Sunday afternoon and left on Wednesday. We took a tour of the conference center, went to a lot of restaurants and then Wednesday just Denae and me went to the Red Butte Gardens. I had never been there, so that was a lot of fun. Things weren't really in bloom, but it was still pretty. Jared and I will be going later in the year when things start blooming more. Thanks for a great few days Denae!

Moving Adventures

Since we had such a fun time moving the first time, we thought we'd move again! About a month ago we moved into a 2 bedroom apartment in the same complex we were currently living in. It was the next building over and up on the third floor. It's much nicer to have the additional space and I really like not being on ground level!

Chris, Jared's brother came down from Clearfield to help us get stuff moved. As we were packing stuff up and moving things around on Friday night in our old apartment, here's what we came across by our entertainment center.....

We had been smelling a funky smell for a little while and we couldn't figure out where it was coming from. When we went to move stuff by the entertainment center, I thought the floor felt a little wet. After some further investigation, we found out that there was a large patch of mold behind the entertainment center. It had soaked up into the whole bottom of our DVD holder (which we had to get rid of) and also up into the bottom of our entertainment center. We pulled the bottom piece off and here's what it looked like - yuck!!

We were able to take that piece off and put some 'legs' on the entertainment center to get it to work, so we didn't have to replace that. We sanded off a few spots on the bottom that mold had gotten on to, but otherwise it was still in ok condition. I'm just glad we moved or who knows when we would have realized what that smell was. How often do you go looking behind your entertainment center? We obviously don't look behind there very often!

When we got up on Saturday morning at about 6am, here's what it looked like outside! What's with this snow anyways!?!

We weren't able to get into the apartment till about 11pm on Friday night because they were still replacing the carpet and vinyl. When they were finally done, here's what we came upon in the bathroom. Here's a new design, the toilet in the bathtub! Lovely, huh? Since they weren't done with the vinyl, the plumber hadn't been back to hook up the toilet. He came about 1pm on Saturday. Luckily it wasn't too far of a walk back to the old apartment if you had to go!

Here's a picture of our new vinyl in the kitchen (sorry it's sideways) - We lucked out in this apartment too, and got a new dishwasher, new countertops, and a new stove!! Awesome!

We had planned on the Elder's Quorum coming to help us around 8am on Saturday, but nobody showed up. The guy who dropped the ball apologized to us on Sunday and he felt really bad, but we made it work. Chris was a livesaver as he and Jared pretty much moved all the heavy stuff. The apartment manager (and my boss at work) helped them move the washer and dryer at least, and helped us get it hooked up. Crystal also came down from Ogden with all 5 of her muscles (those were her words!) and helped us out as well. Rachel brought the kids over and they were such a fantastic help! Rachel packed stuff up in the old apartment and the kids made tons of trips hauling everything up. We're so thankful to have family close by!!

It was an eventful move, but we're pretty much settled in and loving the space and our new apartment. It definitely feels like home!

Lights on Temple Square

I'm a bit behind with posting what we've been up to. It's been a bit of a transition after the holidays because Jared is back to school 4 nights a week. I keep busy with work and keeping things done around the house. I've got a few things to post about, but it will probably be slow going. Before Christmas we went to see the lights at Temple Square. And I'm sure most of you know what the lights look like because you've probably been there many times before, but here's a few pictures of our fun date night. We went out for dinner first and then enjoyed walking around Temple Square.

Christmas Preparations

Christmas is right around the corner and we're super excited to spend our first Christmas together. Most of our shopping is done and we're making plans of who we'll be visiting and when. Work is keeping us both pretty busy. Jared finished up school this week so it's been nice being able to spend more time with him....at least for the next few weeks. We've done a bit of decorating, but still have more to do. Our Christmas tree is definitely a sight to see! I gave my tree to a friend before leaving Sioux Falls, and Jared has a 'Charlie Brown Tree'......so guess what our Christmas tree is this year? Yep, you guessed it!!!

It serves its purpose and we'll be looking for a Christmas tree when they go on clearance, so we can have a bigger one next year! :)

We're loving married life and the fun that we're having! Christmas is our favorite time of the year and we're also excited to head down to Temple Square and look at the lights too!
